As we near election day, I wish to make one brief point. Ten years ago, I was a union worker on a graveyard shift, making $9.66 per hour. I was already 35 years old and had a family to feed. However, rather than depend on the government to raise the minimum wage law, I took personal responsibility and got my bachelor's and eventually my MBA. Today, I am a health-care analyst. Recently, I was invited to interview for a position that will pay six figures. Education was the key to my self-reliance, not dependence on the government. On that platform alone, President Bush has my vote.
