State department joins probe of insurance abuse

The Utah Insurance Department has joined a national initiative to prevent industry abuse among insurance companies and insurance brokers.

The department, in a coordinated effort with members of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, said it will work to identify brokers and insurance companies abusing the system for personal gain and coordinate directly with state law enforcement to identify and end improper practices and conduct in the sale of insurance.
