Prosecutors filed charges Wednesday in 3rd District Court against a man, 63, and his son, 19, who allegedly were dealing drugs.
On Aug. 23, narcotics detectives searched a house near 5800 South and 1100 East where the older man lives with his wife and two sons, the 19-year-old who was charged and a 17-year-old. Detectives seized pipes, several plastic bags containing some sort of residue and a glass bong, charges state.
Detectives also found a scale, about 13 1/2 grams of marijuana and packaging material. The man buys between one-fourth of an ounce to 2 ounces of marijuana a day, then the father and son sell the pot to three or four people each day, charges state.
The 19-year-old may have been smoking marijuana since he was in the seventh or eighth grade, charges state.
Both father and son were charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony; child endangerment, a third-degree felony; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.
