Obituary: Stanley Houston Ipson

1920 ~ 2004

Stanley Houston Ipson has played his final round of golf and joined his family and friends in Heaven.

LAYTON, UT-<! > Stanley Houston Ipson, 84, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1920 to Neil and Fametta Houston Ipson in Salt Lake City. He grew up in Sugar House and graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City.

He married Georgia Marie Christensen August 23, 1940.

Their vows were solemnized March 23, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Feb. 16, 1974. He married Shirley Zumpano Feb. 2, 1985. She died August 6, 2001. He served in World War II and retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1974 after 30 years.

One of his greatest passions was golfing, putting in a round almost daily with his golfing cronies, weather permitting. During 2000, at the age of 80, he hit three holes-in-one, a feat that he was extremely proud of.

He also loved his trips to Hawaii and in his later years, rides around this valley.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He truly appreciated the service rendered to him by his neighbors and friends these past few years.

He is survived by his sons, Keith (Tamara) Ipson, Syracuse; and James (Mesa) Ipson, Pleasant View; eight grandchildren and six great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William Morris, Max, John, Keith and Wallace and one granddaughter, Jaime Lyn.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Nov. 1st, 11 a.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Rd. Friends and family may call Mon. from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main.
