TUESDAY, 5-6 p.m. in the Steiner Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main, Park City, for dogs to play the role of Toto in the holiday production of "The Wizard of Oz," directed by Mark Daniels. The theater is looking for "a friendly, small breed, that is somewhat obedient and who would like to be a star." Owners should bring their dogs on leashes and let them strut their stuff onstage. Play dates are Nov. 26-Dec. 31 (435-645-0671).

THURSDAY, 5:30-9 p.m. by appointment only for the U.S. premiere of "The Slipper and the Rose," at Hale Centre Theatre, 3333 S. Decker Lake Drive.

Bruce Bredeson is directing with musical direction by Mearle Marsh and choreography by Marilyn May Montgomery.

All roles are open and may be double-cast. There are roles for men and women, 16 years of age and over. Come prepared with 16 bars of a Broadway song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. All characters must have a British accent.

An audition packet and character descriptions are available at the theater or online at www.halecentretheatre.org. Dance auditions will be held during the call backs (by invitation only). All cast members will be paid. Play dates are Feb. 14-April 9 (984-9000).

NOV. 6, with separate time slots for adults and youth, in Rogers Memorial Theatre, 292 E. Pages Lane, Centerville, for "Seussical, the Musical," playing Jan. 14-Feb. 12, directed by Annette Wright. Adults 18 and over will audition 9 a.m.-noon. Come at 9 a.m. and be prepared to dance and learn some music from the show. Auditioning for specific roles will be scheduled following group singing and dancing.

Auditions for young boys, ages 11 and 12, prepared to dance and learn the music, will be at 12:30 p.m. Bring a current photograph and a list of possible conflicts from Nov. 6-Feb. 12 (298-1302).

NOV. 6, 9-11 a.m. in the Center Street Musical Theatre, 177 W. Center St., Provo, for Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The King and I." Come prepared with 16 measures of a song showing your vocal range (an accompanist and CD player will be available). There will also be some dancing. Mothers and children are encouraged to audition together. All roles are open. Play dates are Jan. 14-Feb. 19 (764-0535 or www.csmtc.com).

NOV. 6, 9 a.m.-noon in the Rose Wagner Center, 138 W. Broadway (300 South), for Pygmalion Productions Theatre Company's "The Maiden's Prayer." There are roles for three men, ages 30-40. Scripts and sides are available at the house manager's office, along with a signup sheet for audition times. (Special-appearance Equity contracts are available.) Play dates are May 6-29.

NOV. 6, 9-11 a.m., in the Alpine Playhouse, 81 S. 100 West, Alpine, for roles in several upcoming shows, including "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Jane Eyre: the Musical." Come prepared with a 90-second monologue of your choice. Singers should bring their own sheet music. The newly formed theater is looking to fill vacancies in its resident company (492-0499).

NOV. 12-13 for the initial local auditions for Utah Musical Theatre's 2005 summer season — "Annie," "Side by Side by Sondheim" and the world premiere of "Wicked City Blues." Auditions on Nov. 12, 6-10 p.m., will be for adult actors and singers, both Equity and non-Equity. Auditions on Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-noon, are for youngsters (singers and actors), with children's dance callbacks at 1-4 p.m. and more adult auditions 6-10 p.m. (626-7775 or www.weber.edu/umt; click on "announcements" for audition details and "case breakdowns" for each production's casting requirements).
