Commuter transit group honors Rocky

Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson, who joined a lawsuit to stop what he called the sprawl-inducing Legacy Highway, received the 2004 International Leadership Award from the Association for Commuter Transportation last month.

The Utah Transit Authority Rideshare Program nominated Anderson for the award for his environmental initiatives and lobbying efforts.

Specific programs mentioned in the nomination were:

Anderson's Salt Lake City Green initiative

The mayor's pedestrian safety program

Anderson's bicycle promotion program

The neighborhood pace car program

Anderson's lobbying of federal and state governments for more transit spending.
