t--> SOCCER: Utah wrapped-up its two-game swing through Southern California with a 3-0 loss to the University of San Diego on Sunday.
The Utes, who opened with a 2-1 win over No. 7 UCLA on Friday night, fell to 7-3-1 on the season. San Diego picked up its second consecutive home win over a quality opponent after taking down No. 3 Washington 2-1 on Friday night. Utah returns home to open Mountain West Conference play against UNLV on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Ute Field.
SOCCER: Utah State (3-7-1) picked-up its first road point of the season with a 0-0 (2OT) tie of conference opponent Pacific in Stockton, Calif., Sunday. The tie stops a USU road losing streak dating back to Oct. 19 of last season — a span of nine games. The Aggies are still winless on the road in their last 12 matches, but are 9-2-1 at home in that same span. Utah State next plays at Idaho on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
CROSS COUNTRY: Weber State's women's cross country team won the Montana Invitational on Saturday while the men finished second. The Wildcats were led by freshman Sariah St. Laurent who covered the 6K course in 22:18. She was six seconds behind the winner, Ashley Hadway from Montana State. LIndsey Anderson was 5th in 22:33. Ashley Rasmussen was sixth (22:42). Chaly Clapier was 9th (22:58) and Lauren Dalton was 10th (22:59). The men had three runners in the top 10, led by senior Nate Long, who placed 4th in the 8K race with a time of 24:59. Jonathan Gibson of Montana State was the individual winner in a time of 24:37. Other top finishers for Weber State were LeviLefevre in 6th place in 25:01.9 and Bob Lambert 10th (25:25).
VOLLEYBALL: Weber State lost in four games to Portland State Saturday afternoon in Big Sky Conference action. The Vikings won 28-30, 30-19, 30-15, 30-24. The loss is the fourth straight for Weber State and drops them to 2-14 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Up next for the Wildcats is a non-conference match with BYU Tuesday in Provo before returning home to take on Idaho State on Saturday.
SOCCER: Oral Roberts forwards Jessica Kellogg and Heather Hall each scored two goals to help hand Southern Utah its first Mid-Continent Conference loss of the year, 4-0, Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. The loss knocked the Thunderbirds out of first place in the Mid-Con standings to 2-1-0 midway through conference play. SUU suffered its third-straight shutout loss overall and falls to 3-8-0. ORU improves to 8-3-0.
SUU returns home for a non-conference match against South Dakota State on Saturday as part of Homecoming festivities, with kick off slated for 3 p.m. at the Thunderbird Soccer Field.
