Salt Lake Stingers' manager Mike Brumley has accepted a job with the Texas Rangers as their minor league field coordinator.

After managing for four years in the Angels' organization — three seasons in Salt Lake — Brumley will begin working at the Rangers' minor league spring training facility in Surprise, Ariz., this week. The Angels will name the Stingers' new coaching staff later this winter.

"It was a tough decision," Brumley said about the move. "The Angels' organization has been great, and I especially enjoyed my time in Salt Lake. It is fun to see the guys in the (American League) playoffs, and I wish them the best."

Brumley, 41, posted a 202-229 record (.469) in three seasons as skipper of the Stingers. He managed the 2004 Pacific Coast League All-Star team in Pawtucket, R.I., and led the Stingers to a disappointing 56-88 record in 2004 and a 68-75 record in 2003.
