Obituary: Alene Porter Anderson

"Our Bright and Shining Star"

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Alene Porter

Anderson, age 86, passed away October 5, 2004, in West Jordan, Utah.

Born September 1, 1918, in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of Edson Isaac and Clara Matilda Jameson Porter. She married Gordon P Anderson, September 21, 1938, in the Logan LDS Temple. They shared 54 wonderful years together before Gordon passed away in 1996. Alene was an active member of the LDS Church. She served missions to Billings, Montana, and Stockholm, Sweden, as well as various church callings throughout her life. She was a longtime resident of Fairbanks, Alaska. Mom was a gifted artist who enjoyed oil painting. She found great joy and pleasure being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

She is survived by her children: Mark (Fran), David (Louise), Ryan (Candace) and Wendy (Michael) Hays; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Stanley, Max and Kaye; sisters, Millicent and Barbara. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry; brothers Bud and Ray; sister, Catherine.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd where family and friends may visit Friday, 6-8 p.m. Interment, Ammon City Cemetery, Ammon, Idaho.
