Every year, homeowners face the same challenges, which are to improve, upgrade or remodel the home.
The questions they face are the same: how to do it as inexpensively as possible, make it look professionally finished and get it done right.
Dmg World Media home shows have the answers to all these questions and to many more. The show will run Friday through Sunday.
Whether a homeowner is thinking about remodeling or just wants to make a few improvements, the 26th Annual Deseret Morning News Fall Home Improvement, Remodeling and Decorating Show is the right place to look.
Last year, more than 30,000 people attended the show — viewing 500 displays showcasing products, goods and services for all the goods and services a homeowner needs.
Additionally, demonstrations and seminars will be conducted by some of the premiere names in interior design, cooking and entertainment.
This year's show will include nationally acclaimed interior designer Frank Bielec, who is featured on TLC's hit show "Trading Spaces."
Bielec is known for his one-of-a-kind craft pieces, hand-stenciled headboards, decorative paint techniques, elaborate drawings and folksy cross-stitching patterns.
He and his wife, Judy, also own "Mosey N' Me" a cross-stitch designing company. Bielec will conduct seminars on how to decorate a home with ordinary, inexpensive items.
Seminar times: Friday at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Saturday at noon, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday at noon and 3 p.m.
Brian Santos, "The Wall Wizard," is returning to this year's show. Santos has become a crowd favorite with his unique tips on wall coverings. This year, he is back to basics with all new seminars — "Painting Secrets and Cool Tools, Quick Tips and Magic," "Extreme Finishes" and "Quiz the Wiz."
Santos has been featured on numerous television programs such as HGTV's "Smart Solutions," "Good Morning America" and the "Today" show. He is also the author of the new book "Painting Secrets with Brian Santos the Wall Wizard."
Seminar times: Friday at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
An innovator in the bed and bath industry, Mary Grover brings energy and excitement into her seminars. Grover will teach audiences how to transform their bedrooms and bathrooms in under 60 minutes into a beautiful, comfortable room by using a few inexpensive techniques.
Grover will teach two seminars during the show. The first is "How to create a spectacular bathroom in 60 minutes or less" and the second is "How to create a beautiful, gender- neutral, comfortable bed in 60 minutes or less."

Jill Williams Grover and Marla Dee are two local experts who specialize in decorating on a budget and organizing a home and lifestyle.
Grover and Dee will teach seminars on how to make a home a more beautiful and organized place to live. Grover is the author of "Designing on a Dime" as well as other special-event idea books, and Dee is the owner of Clear & Simple, an organization company.
Seminar times: Friday at 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m. 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.; Saturday at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. 6 p.m.; Sunday at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Once again, Roth Concept Center will feature cooking demonstrations with two expert chefs, including Adalberto Diaz. The presentations will be held in the Roth Concept Center display kitchen.
Diaz will share simple recipes and tips for fall harvest soups, risotto, easy Italian pasta and basic bread dough that can transform into many different recipes.
Seminar times: Friday at 4:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.; Saturday at 12:45 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
Other show favorites will include Ken Roesbery, the "Grocery Guru," and Mary Shurtleff, a fung shui expert.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Utah Dietetic Association will teach seminars on healthy meal preparation. Each guest will conduct seminars throughout the show on the Bed & Bath Stage.
One of the more popular presentations in recent years has been the designer room vignettes. This year the designer room vignettes will feature creative ideas from interior designers and furniture stores.
Visitors will learn how to create an overall style through paint, furniture, floor coverings and accessories. Each room is created by local interior designers, painting specialists and furniture stores, including Cynthia Riveria Furniture, Down to Earth, Hacienda Don Angel, Home & Hearth Gallery, Modern Display and Wood River Custom Furniture.
Richard Karn, star of the former ABC hit show "Home Improvement," will host a contest sponsored by Little Giant Ladders. Contest participants are invited to challenge Little Giant Ladders owner Kevin Stephenson in a race to the top of a 20-foot ladder.
Winners will receive a $500 cash prize. Show visitors are also welcome to watch the filming of a new infomercial for Little Giant Ladders starring Karn. There will also be an opportunity to receive his autograph. The event begins Saturday at 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bed & Bath Stage.
The 26th Annual Deseret Morning News Fall Home Improvement, Remodeling and Decorating Show at the South Towne Exposition Center will run Friday through Sunday.
Show hours: Friday 2 to 10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
