DES MOINES, Iowa — Yum Brands Inc.'s Pizza Hut chain is testing home delivery in China, one of its biggest overseas markets, Yum said Wednesday.
Pizza Hut already has nearly 150 casual-dining restaurants in the country.
Yum chief executive David Novak said on a conference call that the Louisville, Ky., company sees a "strong strategic capability" for the Chinese venture.
Meanwhile, Yum sees "room to double" its business in Britain, its second-largest overseas market, where it now has nearly 600 Pizza Hut and KFC restaurants, Novak said.
The pizza chain is testing an "Italian bistro" concept at 38 restaurants in the United States, featuring specialty pizzas, pasta and appetizers. The concept is targeted at "mainstream America," Novak said.
