Joggers identify man as attempted kidnapper

ST. GEORGE — A man suspected of attempting to kidnap two St. George joggers has been arrested.

On Sept. 4, a man allegedly tried to force a female jogger into his car. The jogger was able to escape by repeatedly hitting the man with a flashlight, according to St. George police.

A short distance away, the man allegedly tried the same thing with a different jogger, but this time the woman pointed a can of pepper spray at him and left.

A 29-year-old man was booked into the Washington County Jail after turning himself in on unrelated charges, according to a statement by police. He was later identified as the alleged attempted kidnapper after being identified in a photo lineup by both joggers and another witness.
