LEXINGTON, Ky. — Former Utah football coach Ron McBride underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a blocked artery.
McBride, who now coaches Kentucky's inside linebackers, will miss Saturday's game against Alabama, Wildcats' coach Rich Brooks said.
"The surgery went well," Brooks said. "I went to see him and he is in good spirits. He hopes to be out of the hospital in another couple of days."
McBride coached Utah from 1990-2002. McBride was fired after the 2002 season, when the Utes finished 5-6.
McBride went 88-63 at Utah and guided the program to six bowl games.
