OREM — The popular holiday show "Farley Family Christmas" is coming once again to Utah Valley State College. As producer, developer and star of the show, James Arrington, UVSC theater professor, will showcase his talent Dec. 11, 13, 17 and 18 in the Ragan Theater at 7:30 p.m.
The one-man show chronicles a family Christmas program and features 10 characters, all performed by Arrington. He plays men, women and children, and has minimal costume changes, but transforms easily from person to person.
"This show is quite unusual; I can't think of another piece like it," he said. "It originated as a small dinner entertainment piece in a place I used to work and soon developed into a full production."
Working without a script and with no formal rehearsals, Arrington uses his improvisational skills and the tapes he records of every show to continually change the script and keep it interesting.
"The script changes from year to year because the characters grow a year older," Arrington said. "Plus, some parts of the show are impromptu. Every audience is different, and I interact with them at every show."
Tickets for "Farley Family Christmas" are available at Campus Connection, 801-863-8797, and are $10 general admission, $8 for UVSC employees, seniors and non-UVSC students (with valid ID) and $6 for UVSC students (with valid ID). For more information, please contact James Arrington at 801-863-7157.
