Independent test results show that overnight first-class mail service in the Salt Lake District improved three points to a record-tying 96 percent last quarter.

Salt Lake's mail service has improved and is among the best in the nation. The rating period includes the busy holiday season, Oct. 1-Dec. 31 of last year.

"My hat is off to all of our employees for their teamwork and dedication in moving the mail," said Ken McArthur, USPS district manager.

Salt Lake senior plant manager Gus Chaus is optimistic that the upward trend will continue.

"The outstanding work of our employees, coupled with our 'high-1' mail sorting equipment, is paying off in improved service to our customers," he said.

First-class mail delivery performance is measure externally and independently by IBM's Business Consulting Services unit.
