The "Seussentennial Birthday Celebration" will highlight area library events during the next several weeks, as the late "Green Eggs and Ham" children's writer's 100th birthday occurs on March 2.
First event is the "Seussentennial Imagination Tour" on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Salt Lake City Library, 210 E. 400 South. Random House brings to life the world of Dr. Seuss with a free theatrical performance at 10 a.m. Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets for the event in the auditorium, will be available 30 minutes prior to each performance.
Overflow seating will be in the library's conference center.
In addition, stories, games and crafts will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 3-4 p.m. at all city library locations — Anderson-Foothill (1135 S. 2100 East), Chapman (577 S. 900 West), Day-Riverside (1575 W. 1000 North), Sprague (2131 S. 1100 East), Sweet Branch (455 F St.) and the Main Library (210 E. 400 South).
On Monday, March 1, at 7 p.m., the Magna Library, 8339 W. 3500 South, will host a Dr. Seuss "Birthday Bash" for families. There will be stories, songs and activities.
The Kearns Library, 5350 W. 4220 West, will have a "Dr. Seuss Read Across America" celebration on Tuesday, March 2, 7 p.m. and the Tyler Library, 8041 S. Wood St., Midvale, will sponsor "Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss" on Saturday, March 6, during the day's regular library hours.
A special Dr. Seuss Birthday party will also be on Saturday, March 6, 11 a.m. at the Riverton Library, 12860 S. Redwood Road. Advance tickets are required for this event, which will feature a costume party and prizes for families.
Three branches of the Davis Library — Clearfield (562 S. 1000 East), Layton (155 N. Wasatch Drive) and Bountiful (725 S. Main) will also sponsor a "Seussentennial Birthday Celebration" on Saturday, March 6, 9-10 a.m. There will be stories, games and crafts.

"Bunnicula," by Deborah How. Though scoffed at by Harold the dog, Chester the cat tries to warn his human family that their new pet, a baby bunny, is a vampire.
"Knights of the Kitchen Table," by Jon Scieszka. When Joe, Ted and Sam are hurled back in time by a magic book, they come face-to-face with dragons, wizards, giants and the Knights of the Round Table.
