FRESNO, Calif. — Three-RBI performances from Brandon Taylor and Ryan Chambers helped BYU defeat Monmouth 11-6 on Thursday.

The win is the Cougars' fifth straight and fourth in a row at the Pepsi Johnny Quik Classic hosted by Fresno State. BYU (9-15) is the only undefeated team in the six-team tournament.

Chambers went 2-for-4 for the second consecutive day, hitting a double and his second triple in as many days while scoring twice. Taylor finished 2-for-5, hitting his team-leading fourth home run.

Nathan Hess (2-2) picked up his second win, pitching five innings. He struck out five, giving up two earned runs on five hits and walking none. Joshua Barrett (0-1) picked up his first save after pitching the final three innings and holding Monmouth to one unearned run on two hits with four strikeouts.

On Wednesday, strong pitching and timely hitting helped BYU win its fourth straight game, beating tournament host Fresno State 5-3.

Patrick Wells (3-1) earned his third win of the season, allowing three runs on five hits in seven and one-third innings. Well struck out six on the night.

Chambers tripled, scored and had one RBI, finishing 2-for-4.

Casey Cloward and Ben Saylor also went 2-for-4 in the game. Tim Law and Wade Vest increased their hitting streaks to six games.
