New mission presidents

Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. Assignments for all mission presidents were announced in the March 6, 2004, Church News. The new leaders and their wives are:

Stephen Kent Ashton, 56; Washington Everett Mission; Stonegate Ward, Las Vegas Nevada Warm Springs Stake; counselor in the bishopric; former temple ordinance worker, stake Young Men president, high councilor, ward executive secretary and missionary in New Zealand. Self-employed. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Marvin Jeremy and Norma Bernston Ashton. Married Wendy Rae Delamare, eight children.

A gospel doctrine teacher, she is a former temple ordinance worker, ward Relief Society president, counselor in a ward Young Women presidency and seminary teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John Chevalier and Vila Jeanne Winter Delamare.

Richard Lee Bracha, 47; Oklahoma Oklahoma City Mission; Cardston 6th Ward, Cardston Alberta Stake; bishop; former elders quorum president, ward clerk, ward financial clerk, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Arizona Tempe Mission. Temple recorder. Born in Cardston, Alberta, to Robert Jay and Thora Gwen Pitcher Bracha. Married Jan Alice Tegan, five children.

A counselor in a ward Primary presidency, she is a former ward Primary president, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency and enrichment leader, Young Women adviser, and Primary teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Karl Herman and LaVerne E Cloward Tegan.

Robert Michael Duffin, 54; Panama Panama City Mission; Hemet 2nd Ward, Hemet California Stake; Area Authority Seventy; former stake president, high councilor, stake mission president, ward mission leader and missionary in the Uruguay and Paraguay and Spain missions. Ophthalmologist and medical director at Inland Eye Specialists. Born in Logan, Utah, to Robert Beck and Beryl Putnam Duffin. Married Gaye LaRae Nielsen, five children.

A seminary teacher, she is a former stake and ward Primary president, counselor in a ward Young Women presidency, Relief Society teacher and meetinghouse librarian. Born in Fort Riley, Kan., to Willard LaGrand and Beatrice Allen Nielsen.

Kenneth Lynn Openshaw, 59; Chile Santiago South Mission; Trumbull 1st Ward, New Haven Connecticut Stake; bishop; former temple ordinance worker, counselor in a stake presidency, stake and ward Young Men president and missionary in the North Argentine Mission. Consultant. Born in Bremerton, Wash., to Herbert LaVaughn and Shirley Alice Eite Openshaw. Married Lucy Charlotte Wright, five children.

A counselor in a ward Primary presidency and a temple ordinance worker, she is a former stake Relief Society president, stake missionary, Primary chorister and Relief Society teacher. Born in New York City, N.Y., to Jay William and Emily Fox Clawson Wright.

Kevin Rex Pinegar, 48; Washington Seattle Mission; Yale 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Bonneville Stake; Aaronic priesthood adviser; former high councilor, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, Scoutmaster and missionary in the Austria Vienna Mission. Attorney. Born in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Rex Dee and Bonnie Lee Crabb Pinegar. Married Susan Cook, six children.

A gospel doctrine teacher, she is a former ward Relief Society president, counselor in a ward Young Women and Primary presidency and nursery leader. Born in Charleston, S.C., to Richard Ernest and Clea Searle Cook.

Stephen Chipman Record, 58; Argentina Buenos Aires South Mission; Mesa Vista Ward, Santa Barbara California Stake; bishop; former counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, ward mission leader, Scoutmaster and missionary in the Uruguay Mission. Attorney. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Odes Longshaw and Afton Whitaker Chipman Record. Married Linda Marie Hovey, six children.

She is a former ward Young Women and Primary president, Relief Society teacher, ward activities committee chairman and visiting teaching coordinator. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Dennis Rex and Emma Gayle Dunbar Hovey.

Robert Clare Rhien, 52; Italy Rome Mission; Farmington 7th Ward, Farmington New Mexico Stake; former stake president, high councilor, bishop, high priests group leader and missionary in the Italian Mission. Physician. Born in Farmington, N.M., to Robert Edward and Maxine Webb Rhien. Married Rebecca Anne Taylor, four children.

A ward Young Women president, she is a former stake Young Women president, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency, Young Women adviser, Blazer Scout leader and missionary in the Chile Santiago Mission. Born in Farmington, N.M., to Hiram Merrill and Miriam Ailsie Mumma Taylor.

William Stuart Winegar, 51; Michigan Detroit Mission; Orchard 9th Ward, North Salt Lake Utah Stake; stake president; former high councilor, bishop, high priests group leader, ward mission leader and missionary in the Fiji Suva Mission. Owner and chief financial officer of Winegars Supermarkets Inc. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Stuart M and Evelyn Argyle Winegar. Married Barbara Lynne Brey, six children.

A ward Young Women adviser, she is a former stake Young Women president, Sunday School teacher and Relief Society enrichment leader. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alvin W. and Ileta Brindle Brey.
