"Will Be Missed"
Kenneth Lee Quist born June 3, 1943 to Carl August and Helen Amundsen Quist in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away in his home surrounded by family March 12, 2004.
Ken grew up with one brother, David Quist, of Tooele, Utah. To the delight of his nine grandchildren, he was mischievous and a child at heart beginning to end.
He met his one true love Connie Lee Olsen while passing notes to her at LDS Business College. They were married June 28, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After one date, they were engaged and enjoyed a marriage of 36 years which brought to this earth four children who loved him dearly.
He is survived by all of his children and their spouses, Keneth "K.C." (Penny) Quist of Ephrata, WA, Christy (Devin) Oakeson, West Jordan, UT, Katrinka (Craig) Condie, Highland, UT, and his baby, Nicole Quist.
During his married years, he spent 10 years in Sales for City Electric followed by a short time at Jordan School District, and finished his temporal work here on earth with Travelers Aid. Ken did a wonderful job teaching his children the joy of an honest day's work. He and his wife, Connie, along with their children ran Quist Janitorial Service. This was a time of learning, fun, and reward for them all.
He spent years serving in the Boy Scouts of American which he learned to love from his father. This turned into a passion of camping and outdoor fun to be enjoyed by the family. He also stayed young serving the LDS church as a Star Primary Teacher (15 years) helping young hearts and minds prepare for baptism. He loved music and the Primary Children Hymns remained his favorite. Previously, he served a mission for the LDS Church in Brazil. He continued his love throughout his life for those people.
Through service, Ken worked and taught his family their biggest lessons as he struggled with health this last three years. His caregiver, Pio Medina, was a true friend and a blessing to the family. We learned, "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, and totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - "WOW! What a Ride!!"
Ken was a gentle man. He found joy in our Heavenly Father's creations. He loved flowers and could be found with stacks of film and pictures from his many recreational experiences. He found joy in his family and experiences here on earth, and he will be dearly missed till we meet again.
