Alfred Davis Rees died peacefully at home March 13, 2004.
Born November 27, 1908 in Salt Lake City, the oldest son of Alfred C. and Ida D. Rees.
Employed by and retired from ZCMI. Established his own appliance distributorship. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served in the Swiss-German Mission 1927 to 1930. Served in the Sunday School superintendency. Dad was called later in life to the genealogical name extraction program, utilizing his vast knowledge of the German language, a calling to which he enjoyed immensely. Graduate of New York University and University of Utah.
Married Eloise Smith in the Salt Lake Temple 1932 later divorced. Married Elizabeth Groutage December 24, 1951 Elko Nevada. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, Sept. 30, 1976.
Survived by Brothers Lyman D. of Ogden and Richard D. (Tecla) Rees. Sister-in-law Helen (Stanley D.) Rees. Daughter Sheila Burnham, sons J. Brewster (Susan), Stephen A, Thomas G, Bradford W. (Yuriko), Stewart M. Rees all of Salt Lake; son-in-law Dennis Schugk, Mt. Pleasant. Many grandchildren and great-grandchil-dren. Preceded in death, wife Elizabeth; Brothers Stanley, Elias and William. Daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Schugk; son-in-law Ron Burnham.
Memorial services Sunday March 21, 2004, 5:00 p.m. Kearns Western Hills Stake Center, 5380 west 5400 south. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Community Nursing Hospice.
