1921 ~ 2004
Dr. Reed S. Andrus, physician and long-time Murray resident, passed away March 14, 2004, of complications following open-heart surgery.
Dr. Andrus was born in Salem, Utah on May 7, 1921. His childhood was spent in Spanish Fork, Utah. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1938 and the University of Utah Medical School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army with the Occupation Forces in Italy at the end of World War II.
Dr. Andrus was a 40-year resident of Murray and had practices in both general medicine and psychiatry. He was Director of the Utah Division of Mental Health from 1965 to 1968.
Dr. Andrus is survived by LaRue, his wife of 58 years; son Reed Andrus, Jr. (Chris) of Plano, Texas; daughters Christine Springman (John) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Margaret Fowler (Stephan) also of Salt Lake City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Eldon Andrus and sisters Viola Hansen and Anna Kempton.
He was dedicated to his family, dedicated to his profession, dedicated to his community, and was well-loved and respected in return.
Funeral Services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, on Friday, March 19, 2004. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, with services from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
