Essie Kay Higginson, 87, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died March 21, 2004 at her home in Santaquin.
She was born October 15, 1916 to Edward P. and Caroline Orgill Kay. She was born and raised in Mona, Utah. She married George L. Higginson April 23, 1938 in Salt Lake City. He died July 9, 2000.
Essie was active in the Santaquin Senior Citizens, serving as secretary for many years. She helped organize the first Santaquin Fire Department auxiliary. She enjoyed being a member of the Nebo Loopers Chapter of the Good Sam Club from 1986 to 1999. She was a member of the LDS church, having served in the Primary and Relief Society. She belonged to the Chief Santaquin DUP. She was an active Avon representative for over 30 years.
She is survived by her four children: Jeanne (Frank) Warr, Don (Dorthie) Higginson, Kathryn (Farrel) Bott, and Charles (LaRee) Higginson; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren with number 20 expected in June. She is also survived by her brother, Otis Kay, as well as countless friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters: Melva, Rowena, Clea; and three brothers: Edward, Alma and Leslie Oran.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the Old Santaquin Stake Center, 90 South 200 East. Friends may call at Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Santaquin City Cemetery.
