BATON ROUGE, La. — Seimone Augustus scored 26 points to help rally LSU to a 76-61 victory Tuesday night over Maryland in the second round of the NCAA West tournament.

The victory sends LSU (25-7) to the West Regional semifinal game in Seattle on Saturday. It also ended Maryland's best postseason run since 1992.

Doneeka Hodges scored 15 points for LSU, Temeka Johnson had 12 points and 12 assists.

PURDUE 60, VILLANOVA 42: At Ames, Iowa, Shereka Wright scored 19 points and Purdue dominated the second half after a slow start, beating Villanova 60-42.

TEXAS 80, MICHIGAN STATE 61: At Austin, Jamie Carey shook off a ferocious collision in the first half to lead Texas through a bruising 80-61 win over Michigan State.

NOTRE DAME 59, MIDDLE TENNESSEE ST 46: At South Bend, Ind., Jacqueline Batteast tied her career-high with 27 points, 14 during a decisive 22-1 run, leading Notre Dame over Middle Tennessee State.

PENN ST. 61, VIRGINIA TECH 48: At Blacksburg, Tanisha Wright made up for fellow All-American Kelly Mazzante's poor shooting by scoring 26 of Penn State's first 36 points, and the top seeded Nittany Lions.

CONNECTICUT 79, AUBURN 53: At Bridgeport, Diana Taurasi scored 17 points and Connecticut used a 30-4 run in the second half to beat Auburn 79-53.

MIDEAST

DUKE 76, MARQUETTE 67: At Durham, N.C., Alana Beard and reserve Brittany Hunter carried Duke into the round of 16.

MINNESOTA 80, KANSAS STATE 61: At Minneapolis, Janel McCarville had 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds to lead well-balanced Minnesota to an unexpectedly easy 80-61 victory over Kansas State.
