A Utah State Prison inmate died at University Hospital Friday, after a battle with stomach cancer.

Frank McPhee, 66, had been receiving treatment at the hospital for two weeks. He died just after 5 a.m., according to a Department of Corrections press release.

Doctors consider the death to be from natural causes, however, autopsies are performed on all persons who died while in state custody, the release states. This is the fourth death at the prison this year. Three of those were suicides.

McPhee had been incarcerated since August 1988 after being convicted in 3rd District Court of sexual abuse of a child. He was to have appeared before the state Board of Pardons and Parole for a parole hearing in July 2005.
