I don't usually watch basketball on Sundays, but the Jazz and the Lakers? That was the ultimate test of temptation — beyond my poor power to resist.
After the game, Jerry Sloan was asked what he had needed to win the game. His answer: "Karl Malone."
Why couldn't he (at least for the public) have validated those young men who had just played their hearts out, and answered, "Time. All they need is time to become great."
What the team needs is a coach that knows an important law of human nature — validation. We all need it.
