PROVO — Brett Goodman, 20, Provo, is scheduled to be tried in court this month on charges of stabbing another man 17 times during a brawl in August.
Goodman's attorneys, however, are still negotiating a plea deal with Utah County prosecutors. A plea bargain is in the works, Goodman's defense attorney Shelden Carter told 4th District Court Judge Steven Hansen at a hearing this week.
Goodman has been charged with aggravated assault.
Police allege that Goodman stabbed 22-year-old Cody Haight Aug. 23.
Haight was treated for 17 stab wounds and a punctured lung at a local hospital.
