Recently you printed a story about a scandal in the Utah National Parks Council. There were statements in the article that could be misleading. The opportunity to win free trips from Sysco came several months after they had been given the contract for the summer. The trips were provided by vendors supplying products to both Sysco and Nicholas Foods.
I have known Jeff Peterson, the council's purchasing agent, to be an honest professional. Some may consider Jeff guilty of poor judgment related to the trip, but that is a long way from being dishonest.
I worked with the Nicholas employee who complained about the bid process when the employee worked for Sysco and I was Scoutmaster for a junior leader training course. I found the employee to be very difficult and unpleasant to work with during the three years I was involved. Since that time the employee was fired by Sysco and became an employee for Nicholas. The only scandal is the way Jeff Peterson has been treated after 28 years of service to the youths of this country.
