The University of Utah baseball team won its third straight game, a 6-4 victory over Albertson College in the nightcap of a twinbill at Ute Field Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Utes improve to 10-19 on the season.
Freshman Travis Kohn collected the win on the mound, moving to 2-4 on the year. He pitched 3 innings, giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out three.
Junior Clay Westmoreland earned his second save of the day and fourth of the season. He threw 1.0 inning, walking one and striking out one.
Utah took an early lead in the bottom of the first when junior Matt Ciaramella knocked a three-run long ball to left center.
In the top of the second, Albertson made it a 3-1 ball game with an RBI-single. The Coyotes tied the game at three apiece in the top of the third inning. The Utes answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI-single to centerfield by junior Tyler Kay, followed by a sacrifice fly by senior Mike Westfall Jr. to give Utah a 5-3 lead.
Albertson plated its final run on a ground out in the top of the fourth. Utah scored the game's final run in the fifth on a throwing error by the catcher for the 6-4 victory. Ciaramella went 2-for-3 with one run and three RBI, while Chevalier was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
