PROVO — Sunrise, sunset.

It's a song from "Fiddler on the Roof."

And it's also the time period each day during which folks can burn weeds, grass and other yard debris, according to the Utah County fire officials.

Utah County's "open burning" period this year will be during daylight hours from Saturday through May 17. The sun must be up; and the sun can't have already set.

Homeowners who want to burn within city limits also should contact their local fire department or city offices for specific city rules.

Farmers and fruit growers are permitted, according to state law, to burn anytime of the year during safe periods.
