1931 ~ 2004
Surrounded by his loving wife and children in his home in Draper, Curtis, 72, returned home to his Heavenly Father April 16, 2004 after a valiant fight with Pancreatic Cancer. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Born October 20, 1931 in Lyman, Utah to Quincy and Anetta DeLeeuw Maxfield, he married Rayola Giles in 1951. Later divorced.
On June 1, 1970 Curtis married his eternal sweetheart, Lawanna Hendricks. After 33 years their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September 27, 2003.
He was known as Curt to the friends he worked with at Wheeler Machinery for 29 years as a heavy-duty mechanic and vanguard service. He retired from there in 1997. He enjoyed being outdoors and was active as a mountain man. "Rusty Knife" enjoyed the rendezvous and especially shooting shoulder to shoulder with his friends. However his friends didn't always enjoy his accuracy. He loved camping with his family and teaching his grandkids how to fish. He was good with his hands and a skilled woodworker who created many treasures for those he loved. A High Priest, he served actively in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a ward clerk, counselor in the stake Sunday School presidency, activities committee and as a faithful home teacher.
A cherished husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend, he is survived by his wife; children, Burton (Michele) Maxfield, Leslie (Jane) Maxfield, Leesa (Ken) Myers, Michael (Andrea) Maxfield, D. Craig (Janice) Bridgewater, Tim (Laura) Bridgewater; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Erwin, Eldon; and sister Loretta.
