High school auto technicians, left, compete in the Utah finals of the Ford/AAA auto skills competition on Thursday at the Miller Center at Salt Lake Community College. Below, Brighton students Scott Butler and Dylan Lewis work on their cars. Ten high school teams participated in the event. Each team had to diagnose and fix identically "bugged" cars. The winning team was determined by a combination of written test scores and time taken to "debug" the vehicles. Alex D. Muncy and Brian O. Wood of Viewmont High took first place. Their instructor is McDonald Pells. They will travel to the national competition in Dearborn, Mich., in June.
