A Salt Lake County man received only minor injuries Saturday after being run over by his own boat in his driveway.
A man in his mid-40s was pulling his boat out of his garage to do some work about 8:30 a.m. near 1800 East and 12400 South, said Salt Lake County Fire Capt. Jay Ziolkowski. The boat was on a trailer.
The weight of the boat and the trailer apparently caused it to get away from the man and it began sliding down his inclined driveway, Ziolkowski said. The man was run over by the trailer and pinned when it came to rest on an embankment. If not for that, the trailer and boat may have run over the man completely, causing serious injuries.
Rescue crews had to secure the boat and then lift it with airbags to get the man out.
