I am in total agreement with Roger Baker of BYU (My View, April 5). With all the controversy that the display of the Ten Commandments causes, why not post something like the golden rule in schools and other public places in its place?
Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself. " Every major religion has something in their writings that tells their people the same thing. For instance:
Christianity: "All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them."
Judaism: "What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man."
Islam: "No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself."
It just makes sense to me to post something that will get the message across without stirring up controversy. I believe it is worth a try.
