The Wasatch-Cache National Forest has announced it will close Farmington Canyon to motorized and pedestrian use, starting Monday and continuing through May 7.
Work crews will operate heavy equipment on the road while installing a retaining wall to shore up an eroded hillside. The road will be open to the public May 1-2 but will otherwise be off-limits during that two-week period.
Sunset Trail (No. 43) will also be closed at the same time because of the potential hazards from falling rock during the construction period.
The Compton Bench area, just north of Farmington Canyon, is still closed to any type of use. A mudslide occurred April 7 in that area.
