Boston won its second straight series against the Yankees on Saturday with a 3-2 victory in 12 innings. The Red Sox took three of four from the Yankees last weekend at Fenway and got the sweep in the Bronx this weekend. Both teams will hook up again for four more sets this year.


Rogers Clemens tied Gaylord Perry for 15th place with his 314th win, leading Houston past the Rockies 8-5 Saturday. Clemens had seven strike outs in 5 2-3 innings, raising his career total to 4,125. This ranks third behind Nolan Ryan (5,714) and Steve Carlton (4,136).


Barry Bonds went hitless in one at-bat with three walks and the Giants beat the Dodgers 5-3. Bonds, booed every time he came to the plate, drew his fourth straight intentional walk and 12th in his team's 18 games.


With a crowd of 41,226, the Marlins topped 40,000 for the third time in eight home games this season. Under the terms of a doughnut chain's promotion, ticket holders are entitled to a dozen free doughnuts for the first time because the Marlins totaled at least 12 hits. They finished with 13.
