GLENWOOD, UTAH <! > Elvie Barnhill English Joseph, 94, passed away April 3, 2004 in Richfield, Utah.

She was born November 6, 1909 in Edenton, NC to John Hulon and Ella Vance Shingleton Barnhill; their first born. The family then moved to Hampstead NC where they remained.

Later Elvie married James Fitzhugh English and were the parents of three children, Ruby (John) Warner; Roy (Robbie) James; Marian Frances who pre-deceased her. Some years later Elvie came to Utah where she married Kenneth Joseph of Parowan, Utah, but they later divorced.

She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in all the auxiliaries, but especially the Young Women's organization. She served many years as a temple worker in three of the temples. After her retirement she also served a full-time mission in the Little Rock Arkansas Mission.

She is also survived by three siblings: Roy James of Bountiful, Marion Francis of Roanoke, VA and Sadie Skipper of Hampstead, NC; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchild-ren and one great-great-grandson. She is preceded in death by both husbands, a daughter and four brothers and sisters.

She knew the meaning of hard work and took care of herself independently until the last few months. Her family and friends celebrate her long and productive life.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield, Utah, where friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
