Rexburg, Idaho, native Jon Peter Lewis will stay on the hit TV show "American Idol" for at least another week.

The bushy-haired crooner was retained Wednesday night despite performing what judges considered an "average" version of Sir Elton John's hit "Rocketman." The former BYU-Idaho student, 24, is now one of eight finalists.

Camille Velasco from Haiku, Hawaii, was voted off the program by viewers after she performed John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."

The next installment of "American Idol" will air Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Fox.
