1933 ~ 2004
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Fern Elva Olson Plaizier passed way peacefully on 10 May 2004 at her Bountiful home surrounded by her family.
Fern was born 24 June 1933 in Ogden, Utah to Ephraim F. Olson, and Myrtle I. Rawson. She attended Weber College. She married her eternal companion, Peter Plaizier June 16th 1953 in the Logan Temple. Their marriage was one of great love and dedication to each other and to their 12 children.
They made their home in Ogden until 1960 when they moved to Bountiful. She had a great love of scouting and served in Cub-scouting for 26 years. She received her Wood Badge training, Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also served faithfully in the presidencies of the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women. In 1995-96, she and her husband were called to served a mission in Nauvoo. It was one of the highlights of their 50 years together.
She loved going to church, working with little children, gardening, and being outdoors. Her greatest love was her family and the time that she spent with them and doing things for them. She was a great example of unconditional love and service to others. She always thought of others before herself.
In the year 2000 she was chosen Bountiful Mother of the Year. She was a loving and dedicated mother of 12 children, seven sons, five daughters, Leonard (Janet), Bountiful; Mike (Mary), Bountiful; Ken (Ann), Layton; Rex (Diane), Bountiful; Evelyn, Bountiful; Jewel, Bountiful; Pam (Frank) Backman, Bountiful; Susan (Lance-deceased) Hill, Bountiful; Glen (Colleen), Bountiful; John (Jana), Layton; Cathy, North Salt Lake; Ben, Bountiful; plus 26 dearly loved grandchildren. Preceded in death by her brother Glen Olson.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to her loving and caring husband as well as many others for the extra special care that they gave her in her last years.
Funeral services will be held at Friday, May 14, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful North Stake Center, 1560 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, an Friday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful Lake-view Cemetery.
