There is something inherently wrong with any candidate selection system that allows a governor with an 81 percent public approval and a commanding lead over her opponents among the population-at-large to be scrapped by 3,500 delegates and not even appear on a public election ballot. This is not what I would call government of, by and for the people. It is more reminiscent of an oligarchy than a democracy. I hope the Legislature will take a serious look at refining the candidate selection process with an open public primary preferably in early June or September.
Gov. Walker is a person who has contributed much to our state. I cannot remember anyone ever being more qualified to hold the office.
