JOHN LANGFORD, Skyline: This senior was just named to the Academic All-State team for his dedication both on the field and in the classroom.
"I've been coaching for 18 years, and I've never had a harder worker than John. He may be the best athlete I have ever coached, but it is his hard work that has made him the player that he has become," said Skyline coach Steve Marlowe.
Langford plays third base and pitches. This past week he was the winning pitcher against region rival Taylorsville, and hit a home-run and picked up a save in a title-clinching contest against Kearns.
"I admire him because he is so committed to both academics and athletics," added Marlowe. John carries a 3.98 GPA.
ALISON TAYLOR, Skyline: This senior track and cross country star isn't just a standout in her sport.
"She's done numerous hours of community service, is a student body officer, the team captain and she holds down a 3.97 GPA," said her coach Tom Porter. "She's a great kid and a good student."
Taylor was all-state in track and cross country and leads a strong Skyline squad heading into this weekend's high school state track meet at BYU.
The three-year letterman recently signed with Colorado State University to run both sports.
