Two Louisiana college students whose drunken behavior on a Texas-bound flight forced an unscheduled landing in Salt Lake City will serve 12 months' probation.
U.S. District Judge Tena Campbell imposed the probationary terms and a $500 find for each man Monday afternoon.
Andrew Maxwell and Jacques Labourer each pleaded guilty in February to one misdemeanor count of theft on an aircraft. In exchange, prosecutors on Monday dismissed felony charges of interference with a flight crew and aiding and abetting.

Both men apologized Monday for their actions aboard the May 27, 2003, flight, during which the already intoxicated men attempted to steal mini-bottles from the flight attendants' cart in the back of the plane.
