AMERICAN FORK — It sounds like a scene from a movie — but several witnesses swear they saw it happen.
Witnesses tell police they saw a crying woman being beaten by some men in a grove of trees Sunday at 12:30 a.m. near a Target store.
Some of the late-night shoppers heard her cries for help and started honking their car horns.
Startled at being spotted, the attackers grabbed the woman and sped away in a yellow or white Acura.
American Fork detectives are taking the tale seriously.
They've started looking for the woman, who witnesses said looked about 18 years old.
Police met with one of the witnesses Sunday and found several drops of blood near the trees.
Other witnesses say they saw the woman brought to the area in a car trunk.
"We'd just be happy to have our victim come forward to know she's OK," said American Fork Police Lt. Darren Falslev.
Another witness said on Monday there was only one male and one female involved so police are trying to sort through the details to have an accurate report, Falslev said.
Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact American Fork detective Todd Huff at 763-3020.
