I have to agree that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld should not resign for the actions of a few in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. I do feel Secretary Rumsfeld should resign for a pattern of ineffectiveness and lack of action during his tenure.

Rumsfeld offered no real postwar plan. The secretary has failed to protect the troops by providing armored or armor kits for soft-sided vehicles. He failed to recognize the need for additional troops to protect supply lines. He certainly should resign for not understanding the effects of this prison scandal.

The events of Abu Ghraib prison have insulted the honor of the U.S. military, all the soldiers fighting or who have fought for this country, all who died or spilled their blood and the American people. Secretary Rumsfeld's lack of understanding, response and attention deserve nothing more than a swift boot.
