BASEBALL: After playing its first 26 games in California, BYU makes it final trip of the season to the West Coast to take on San Diego State in a three-game series beginning Wednesday.
Utah
MEN'S GOLF: Senior Garrett Clegg has qualified for the NCAA West Regionals, May 20-22 at the Crosswater Course in Sunriver, Ore. Clegg is one of six individuals who will join the 27 teams in the field for the 54-hole event.
Utah State
ADMINISTRATION: Chuck Shelton, former head football coach at Utah State (1986-91), is returning to Logan in a new role. Shelton will join the advancement team at Utah State to help the Aggies raise money for the Romney Stadium renovation. Shelton will work under the vice president for university advancement to raise money for the approximately $20 million expansion and renovation of the stadium.
Weber State
ATHLETICS: The coaches luncheon will be Monday at Ligori's Restaurant in Ogden at 11:30 a.m.. This will be the last luncheon of the season.
Southern Utah
SOFTBALL: SUU will play for its first-ever NCAA tournament berth this weekend at the Mid-Continent Conference tournament in Macomb, Ill. The Thunderbirds enter the tournament as its top seed after finishing the regular season atop the Mid-Con standings with a 19-5 record. SUU finished at 38-16.
BASEBALL: Sophomore outfielder Canyon Vance was named the Division I independent baseball newcomer of the week for his performance against Utah last week. In two games against the Utes, the transfer from Snow College went 3-for-9 (.333) with three runs and four RBIs.
