WEST VALLEY CITY — Seven people were displaced Monday night after a fire at a four-plex near 4000 West and 4400 South.

Firefighters were investigating the cause of the fire, which started about 10:30 p.m.

One of the residents received injuries from smoke inhalation and possibly another injury. He was transported to Pioneer Valley Hospital in serious condition, West Valley Fire Capt. Bob Fitzgerald said.

The fire was contained to a bottom apartment, but the other apartments received smoke damage. The fire was extinguished fairly quickly, Fitzgerald said. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
