Almost 400 people in Salt Lake County were still without electrical power early Tuesday evening as Utah Power worked to restore service following Monday's fierce windstorm.
According to Dave Eskelsen, Utah Power spokesman, some 3,300 customers in the Salt Lake area were without power late Tuesday afternoon. However, that number was quickly reduced to 183 in Salt Lake area and another 206 customers in the Jordan Valley area.
He said winds caused some of the outages directly, but others — especially in Idaho — were produced by the wind indirectly. Eskelsen said in long, dry spells, power lines can become coated with a fine dust that includes salt.
