1937 ~ 2004
Alton Nye Moon, age 66, of Duchesne, passed away May 11, 2004, at his home.
He was born November 29, 1937, in Salt Lake City, to Orven James and Delphia Nye Moon. He married Carolyn Remund June 2, 1961, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Alton was very active in civil and community service. He was a Duchesne County Commissioner, Duchesne City Councilman, member of the Search and Rescue, president of the Association of Counties, president of the Moon Lake Electric Board, Chairman of Deseret Generation, and a member of the Wool Growers Commission. He was a cattle and sheep rancher all of his life.
Alton was a devout member of the LDS Church holding various callings including Bishop, Branch President, Stake Mission President, ordinance worker at the Vernal Temple, and served a mission in the Southern States. He loved to talk to people, especially about his religion. He was well known and well liked.
He loved spending time at the Wolf Creek Ranch with his children, grandchildren, and livestock, and enjoyed driving truck with his boys.
Alton is survived by his wife, Carolyn, Duchesne; children, Ken (Nancy) Moon, Duchesne; Leisa (Stephen) Roberts, Cedar Hills; Jodi (Mike) Reinhardt, Duchesne; Todd (Camille) Moon, Myton Bench; Russell (Christal) Moon, Antelope Canyon; Amy (Josh) Hunter, Neola; Kellee (fiance: Kirk Grant) Moon, Provo; 18 grandchildren; brothers and sister, Neil (Irma Jean) Moon, South Myton; Clive (Pat) Moon, Nauvoo, IL; and Karen (Wade) Petersen, Orem. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Sat., May 15, 2004, at the Duchesne LDS Stake Center, 901 N. 500 E. Friends and family may call at the church on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. Saturday.
Interment will be in the Duchesne City Cemetery under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
