PROVO — Provo Police Sgt. Mark Troxel received the Baker Exemplary Service Award at a ceremony held Wednesday.
Troxel, who has worked for the Provo Police Department since 1989, received the award in recognition of his extensive work with community-oriented police work and service.
One of the first officers assigned to the Bike Patrol Unit, Troxel was also a member and later supervisor of the Hostage Negotiation Team. He has also served on the Major Accident Investigation Team, as a school resource officer and a member of the Mountain Rescue Team.
The Baker award is presented annually to a Provo police officer or dispatcher who has performed outstanding community service. Candidates are nominated by Provo residents citizens or employees but chosen by a committee of two law-enforcement officers and a dispatcher who are not employed by Provo city.
