SPANISH FORK — The sky's almost the limit on the height of new industrial buildings.
Spanish Fork's City Council this week eliminated height restrictions for industrial buildings to encourage economic development. The ordinance had restricted industrial buildings to 40 feet high, except for builders near residential areas, once limited to 30 feet high.
The new five-story Neways building on I-15 in Springville wouldn't have been approved for Spanish Fork, for example, City Planner Emil Pierson said.
Industrial areas in Spanish Fork are at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon, off Chappell Drive on the city's east side and on the north side, extending almost to the Spanish Fork-Springville Airport. The airport will continue to regulate building heights near landing strips.
