ALPINE — A 35-year-old Alpine resident was arrested at his home on May 7 for investigation of allegations he sexually abused a child for four years.

Police launched an investigation on April 18 after a family member came forward with information, Alpine/Highland Police Chief Kip Botkin said in a news release. Officers obtained an arrest warrant, which contains allegations of seven instances of rape of a child, rape, forcible sodomy and sodomy on a child.

A relative of the man bailed him out of Utah County Jail on $25,000 bond the following day, according to the jail's Web site. The man was arrested again on May 12 for violation of a protective order, and bailed out on $1,850 bond the same day by the same person.
